Olivia Munn Pays Tribute to Erica Ash After Her Death at 46, Says She Died Following ‘Long Battle with Cancer’

Olivia Munn is remembering her former costar Erica Ash.

On Monday, July 29, the actress, 44, who starred alongside Ash in the 2021 movie Violet, paid tribute to the late star following her death at the age of 46. 

“So sad to hear about the passing of Erica Ash after a long battle with cancer,” Munn wrote over a clip on her Instagram Stories of Ash playing the role of Lila alongside Munn’s Violet in Violet.

She continued, “We worked together on the movie Violet that came out in 2021. She was a brilliant actor who brought so much to every moment.”

“Rest in love,” Munn added alongside a dove and love heart emoji.

The X-Men: Apocalypse star — who has documented her journey with cancer after she was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in April 2023 — then added in another clip on her Instagram Stories, “... f-- cancer.”

A representative for Ash did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

Earlier on Monday, BET announced the actress' death in a statement on Instagram.

“Today, #BETRemembers actress and comedienne Erica Ash who has passed away at the age of 46,”  the post read. “Known for being equal parts witty and funny, Erica starred in BET favorites such as legal drama In Contempt and reality spoof Real Husbands of Hollywood.” 

“We send our deepest condolences and love to her parents, siblings, friends, and family,” the statement continued alongside photos and videos of Ash. “Fly high Queen 🕊.”

In addition to Munn, many other stars have paid tribute to Ash, also known for MADtv and Survivor's Remorse, following her death.

Loni Love shared an emotional tribute to Ash on Instagram featuring photos of the pair throughout the years. 

"I am sad to confirm my friend and fellow actress Erica Ash's passing.... Erica was talented and hilarious whether it was the show Survivor's Remorse or Madtv she would put her all into her work,” she wrote.

Love added, "She would always just be there.. now she's gone.. My sincere condolences to her family and fans 🙏🏾🙏🏾.”

Niecy Nash Betts also paid her respects by writing about the last text she received from Ash before her death.

“Rest Well Pretty girl 🕊️❤️ @theericaash” she wrote alongside a photo of the pair. “Your last text to me was ‘I’m gonna make you my #wcw’ Then we had a good keke. You will be missed! Thank you for all the laughs! Sending my deepest condolences to your family & loved ones ❤️.”
