Grand Theft Auto games are connected. It is not something debatable. Fans have been finding evidence for more than a decade. The four most studied are Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV and GTA V, with GTA Online being a special case due to its enormous popularity. And we can't forget GTA IIIalthough this does not usually cause as much interest in players as those mentioned.
Do you remember OG Loc? His real name is Jeffrey Cross and he is a colorful character from GTA: San Andreas. His dream (and destiny, according to him) was to become a famous gangster and rapper. Few took it seriously and Smoke and Sweet certainly weren't among them. The truth is that most of us take him as the classic “freaked out” character who aims too high.
Its story takes place during San Andreas. Madd Dogg accused him of plagiarism (correctly) and he rarely received respect, even when he recorded songs and music videos. It ended up being forgotten by most players, but not by Rockstar. Do you know what happened to him? Well, he achieved his goal.
You can find three OG Loc albums in Niko Bellic's safe house (Bohan) at GTA IV. This made us think that his career finally took off. Or maybe it was a reference. However, GTA V cleared up all doubts:
- There are OG Loc records and vinyl in both Franklin's initial house and Jimmy De Santa's room.
- His Gold/Platinum Vinyls appear at Franklin's Vinewood Hills home and at Record A Studios.
- He is mentioned as an important label contact in the Contract update of GTA Online.
- And in case this doesn't convince you of his success: he has a star on the Los Santos Walk of Fame.
So he triumphed, but obviously not on his own merits. He was never the most talented rapper on the scene and anyone who knows his story knows that if he rose it was thanks to everything he stole from other artists… and who knows how much more over time that we couldn't keep track of him.
